West Kentucky Flyers is a member-owned flying club at Kyle-Oakley Field. We share two well-kept aircraft so that flying stays affordable, social, and close to home.
Why a club
Owning an airplane is expensive because the costs do not stop when the propeller does. A club spreads the insurance, hangar, annual, and reserves across every member, so the hours you fly are the hours you pay for.
Members share the fixed costs of owning, so you pay a fraction of what renting or owning outright would run you. No rental minimums, no paying for someone else's overhead.
A Cessna 172 for training and easy local flying, and a Piper Arrow when you need to be somewhere. Book the one that fits the trip.
Kyle-Oakley Field sits just outside Murray, minutes from Murray State. No Class B, no wait for a clearance. You can be off the ground and over Kentucky Lake before the engine is fully warm.
A club is not a rental counter. It is a group of neighbors who share hangar space, safety culture, and the occasional breakfast run two states over.
The fleet
The airplane most American pilots learn in. Forgiving, honest, and cheap to fly. Our 172 is the one you will most likely take your first lesson in and the one you will reach for on a calm evening when you just want to go look at the lake.

Loading conditions…
We keep the member-to-airplane ratio low on purpose, so the airplane is there when you want it. If more people want in than our two airplanes can carry, our intention is to add another rather than crowd the ones we have. We are full at the moment, so the waitlist is the way in: a $100 reservation holds your place in line and is credited toward your buy-in when a spot opens.
